.We have been away from biking for many years, busy with our careers and raising our family.  Finally with the kids raised it was time to build the bike of our dreams.  In 2003 it was complete; the only thing missing was real old school ape hangers.  All the ones available were real square and felt real uncomfortable on long rides.  The arms and shoulders got numb and pretty soon I was switching hands back and forth to get the circulation back in my arms.

Anybody who has rode long distances with square apes knows the dance.  I thought someone had to make a real old school butterfly ape; at least that’s what I called them back in the old days.  To my dismay after searching everywhere, going thru the Internet, the only bars I saw where the same square straight ape hangers.  I started to search for someone to build me a set without having to hock the house to pay for it.  I found a small shop where the owner agreed to make my bars.  He informed me that he would make 10 pairs to sell to offset the cost of the prototypes, which were very, very expensive.  Much to my surprise people loved the bars and I found I was not the only one looking for real old school apes.  I sold all ten set in about a week, the rest was history, in the last year Boulebars Unlimited LLC has taken off and the sales have been phenomenal.  With the popularity of old school bobbers, Boulebars are the perfect choice for the real old school look, as well as safety and comfort on long rides.

About our bars

Our bars are made of 1-1/4” cold rolled steel, tig welded and chromed.  The angles of the bars at the handgrips are designed to take pressure off the shoulders to give a more relaxed ride.  The angle at the bottom is designed to flow with the triple trees, not to stick out past them.  We have taken great pride in making our bars of the highest quality materials and manufacturing them in the USA.  We stand behind our product 100% and have taken every precaution in producing a safe and appealing product.  We have had our bars tested at an aircraft inspection company and have received a A-1 mill spec that meets an ASTM E1417-99 Type I, Method A, Class, per Mil-Std-2219.  We feel our bars surpass anything in the market for strength and durability.   We have received a picture or call from almost every one of our customers telling us how satisfied they are with the bars.
